Hello Spoontaneous Readers!
Today we will be exploring an ice cream shop that is a bit out of the ordinary as far as atmosphere and "instagramable" quality. The ice cream shop we will be looking at today is: Kuma.
Atmosphere and Service:
The physical space of the store is extremely small but brightly colored with only enough space for one indoor seating table.

This neon sign reads "It ain't gonna lick itself!"
The service was polite to say the least. There was a large counter separating the staff from the guests so it felt disconnected by the physical space. There was no ice cream visible in a case like a typical ice cream shop, so it was difficult to choose a flavor when you could not see them.
Food and Quality:
Visually, this ice cream is definitely worthy of the 'gram!

At Kuma you have the option to pick one flavor of ice cream, four toppings although some of the topping options count as two, and one sauce. The ice cream always comes in a fresh and warm waffle cone. There is definitely opportunity to make a beautiful and social media worthy sundae at Kuma.
The ice cream itself seemed store bought. With many other options in San Antonio for handmade ice cream, this ice cream didn't stand out as anything special.
The best part about this sundae ordeal is the fresh waffle. You can feel the warmth through the paper when holding it in your hand. And unlike a regular waffle cone, the waffle is still soft upon serving, which helps to absorb the melted ice cream as opposed to it dripping on the ground or you.

Price:
Kuma is more on the expensive side for an ice cream shop with one serving running at $7.50 each. However, you do get a waffle cone as well as 4 toppings and a sauce. As a low income college student, I feel it is expensive but you do get a large size and all the extras.
Overall:
Overall, I personally will not be returning to Kuma. The ice cream itself is nothing special and it really is more of a novelty ice cream shop than a quality ice cream shop. But if you're in the area and want a good picture for social media, I'd say give it a try.
