Hello Spoontaneous Readers!
We will be returning to the Pearl Brewery district in San Antonio to explore another sweet treat. This ice cream shop originated in Austin Texas and has worked it's way down to bring locally made and sourced ice cream to San Antonio. That is right folks, we're talking about Lick.
Atmosphere and Service:
A bright blue shop with the scent of freshly made waffle cones welcomes you into Lick. The aesthetic of the shop is eye catching and on trend with current kitchen styles such as open shelving and glassware. Not to mention the pictures of happy cows that kindly gives milk to Lick for their honest ice creams.

I came right upon the store's opening at 11:30am, so there was only one kind young lady on staff. Her service upon open was cheerful and welcoming.
Food and Quality:
Look at all this ice cream!

What is neat about Lick is that they have unique seasonal Texas flavors, as well as dairy free and vegan ice cream options. Of course they have some year round flavors but I think it's cool that you could have the opportunity to change it up with the season or to fit your diet.
Lick is Texas founded and Texas made. On their website it has information about the dairy farm they use for their ice cream to insure that customers can publicly know here the ingredients for their ice cream comes from.
When I asked today what is the most popular flavor sold, the reply was: Salt caramel lick, vegan chocolate chocolate, or Texas chocolate sheet cake. Thankfully my husband was with me to help me cover the chocolate bases, so of course I had to try the salt caramel lick for our spoontaneous readers.

What I appreciate most about Lick is the texture of the ice cream as well as the balance of the flavors of ice cream. You can tell that the ice cream is of good quality because it is not hard to dig a spoon into like grocery store ice cream can be. It melts in your mouth just the way ice cream should. The flavor of the caramel ice cream was sweet but not overpowering with caramel flavor. There was no unnecessary extras like caramel ribbons or chips to scream caramel in people's flavor palette. Instead the ice cream was set on it's own and was sweet and refreshing.
Price:
The pricing for Lick I feel is fair as a low income college student. 2 scoops is the smallest size they have priced at approximately $4.50 for the 2 scoops. The scoop sizes themselves are on the smaller side, however I feel that if the scoops were bigger it would be too much for the flavors of the ice cream.
Overall:
Overall, Lick is a very good ice cream shop. It captures all that one can appreciate in a local ice cream shop. It has unique flavors and options for those with dietary restrictions, it uses local ingredients, and the ice cream itself is really good. When you're in San Antonio, I recommend you find time to go to the Pearl Brewery district to try Lick Honest Ice Cream.
